Senior Nepali Congress leader Ramchandra Paudel suggested that the border-related dispute be resolved through prime minister-level talks with India. Speaking at a press conference organised by Nepal Press Union in Birtamode, Jhapa today the NC leader asked the government to internationalise the border dispute if it was not resolved through talks.
“The government enjoys two-thirds majority, so it’s high time it held serious talks with India regarding the border disputes in relation to Lipulek, Limpiyadhura & Kalapani & other points where disputes have arisen by presenting hard evidence” Paudel said.“The prime minister should present a nationalist image of the government without deceiving the country & people” he added.
Further Paudel also said that his party was ready to help the government should the latter move ahead sincerely to resolve the border dispute.
“Let me tell you that the dispute won’t be resolved with secretary-level talks” he argued. On the occasion, NC Jhapa President Uddhav Thapa also urged all political stakeholders to stand united to defend national sovereignty.
“It’s very sad that the state hasn’t presented its view regarding the encroachment,” he said.
